Amid all the festivities of the Christmas season, the time off from other responsibilities has given me some more time to pursue one of my hobbies: hacking. (Or at least trying to hack – much of what I do would probably not be considered true “hacking” by many.)

Lately I’ve demonstrated how various data on Facebook, such as photo albums and events, can be accessed by anyone when most users would probably think otherwise. You can now add friend lists to that category of data.

You may recall that when Facebook rolled out their new privacy settings, many analysts complained about the list of who a user had “friended” becoming part of what Facebook classified as Publicly Available Information. In response, Facebook added a setting to remove the lists from a user’s profile, a move that seemed to quell some of the criticism.

But Facebook also made one point clear about friend lists: “This information is still publicly available, however, and can be accessed by applications” (Source: CNET). Since Facebook still considers friend lists to be PAI, I do not consider the details I’m about to publish a vulnerability and therefore feel free to disclose them.

Replace USERID in the following URI with a Facebook user’s ID number (e.g. Mark Zuckerberg’s is 4) and load the URI: http://www.facebook.com/ajax/typeahead_friends.php?u=USERID&__a=1 You’ll see a chunk of JSON that includes a list of the user’s friends, including names and profile links. The list is sorted by friends’ ID numbers. By the way, you don’t even need to be logged into Facebook for this trick to work. (Interestingly enough, I had come across a similar technique years ago, forwarded details to Facebook, then forgot about it; I wonder if this would have worked even prior to the new privacy controls.)

Step 5:Now visit the Facebook Issue Reporting Page you will see something like below .:

Step 6 :Now as mentioned in the image fill all the data like above with your Fake Email Address and all other things and than click on continue.

Step 7 :Now you will get mail on your Fake Email Address entered above from Facebook Team asking you about the issue, tell them that you don’t have access to your account and someone has hacked your account and he is spoiling all your reputation and he is a threat to your profile, so you have to mail them convincing to disable and than delete your account

Step 8 :Now after 2-3 days you will get mail from Facebook Team asking you that have you gained access to your Facebook profile, reply them you do not have any access to your Facebook profile and ask them to disable your account so that hacker have no access to the profile.

Step 9 :Now after 1-2 days you will get an Email that your account is disabled, and that’s we wanted to do and now if it will not be accessed for a while it will automatically be deleted

Facebook Attach EXE Vulnerability

Summary:
When using the Facebook ‘Messages’ tab, there is a feature to attach a file. Using this feature normally, the site won’t allow a user to attach an executable file. A bug was discovered to subvert this security mechanisms. Note, you do NOT have to be friends with the user to send them a message with an attachment.

Description:
When attaching an executable file, Facebook will return an error message stating:
“Error Uploading: You cannot attach files of that type.”

When uploading a file attachment to Facebook we captured the web browsers POST request being sent to the web server. Inside this POST request reads the line:

Content-Disposition: form-data; name=”attachment”; filename=”cmd.exe”

It was discovered the variable ‘filename’ was being parsed to determine if the file type is allowed or not.

To subvert the security mechanisms to allow an .exe file type, we modified the POST request by appending a space to our filename variable like so:

filename=”cmd.exe ”

This was enough to trick the parser and allow our executable file to be attached and sent in a message.

Impact:
Potentially allow an attacker to compromise a victim’s computer system.
